BUHARI AND HIS WIFE AISHA MEET WITH PARENTS OF ABDUCTED CHIBOK GIRLS IN ABUJA: SEE MORE;
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari and his wife Aisha have hosted the parents of the kidnapped Government Girls Secondary School Chibok pupils who were abducted by Boko Haram last April. On April 14 last year, the girls were kidnapped by the terrorist sect in the middle of the night while they slept in their boarding school in Borno State. Despite a concerted international campaign to free them, over 200 of the kidnapped pupils still remain in captivity are incommunicado. Yesterday, President Buhari and his wife met with the mothers of the missing girls to reassure them of the government’s determination to rescue their daughters. After the meeting, the wife of the vice president Dolapo Osinbajo, said the gathering was a dream accomplished. Mrs Osinbajo added: “Her Excellency, Hajia Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has for very many months wanted to visit Chibok. She also wanted to meet with the mothers, so today we had an opportunity for them to meet face to face. “We had two of the mothers who still had their daughters missing after a year and Hajia being a mother, she met with them and held them and they. We are all extremely overwhelmed that at this time when the president is so busy doing so much he had time to meet with the women from Chibok." According to Mrs Osinbajo, President Buhari spoke with the parents in English and Hausa, explaining to them how he keeps telling everyone to put themselves in their place. Nigeria's military has enjoyed some success in raiding Boko Haram's hideouts recently, freeing many captive women but is yet to locate the Chibok girls.
